What's amused you this weekend?
I was round my aunt and uncles with my parents this weekend. I was doing homework, whilst watching my dad and uncle doing some diy.
They were taking down an internal 'wall' that was made of out this 70s style patterned glass and replacing it with a wooden frame (to be plastered) with a door in the middle.
Them taking the glass pannels out was like watching the chuckle brothers with all the 'to me' 'to you' business.
THEN, they put planks of wooden going horizontally and vertically that had to make squares in the middle, of 2ft by 2ft at the msot, so that the plaster board can be nailed/screwed on and the plaster applied. So they maticulously measured these squares, which won't be seen soon, but they failed to measure the door frame properly(which wasn't realised at first).
After they finished they looked really proud with their work and got me to measure everything. The squares of wood were no more than the specified measurement, I chekced them with a spirit level to make sure they we straight as well, I then measured to see if the door was in the middle of the wall, it was. I then asked how big the door was and how much space they wanted around it so it would easily open and close. THEY LOOKED AT ME BLANKLY! The old door was 32 inches, including gaps, and they'd left the same space, but when I went into the hallway, to measure the door, it was 33 inches (plus they'd need extra room), plus I measured the two heights, and they hadn't left enough room that way either.
OH HOW I LAUGHED.
