Does anyone have any ideas aout the question below which is driving me mad!

A matter of life and death. The englishman was David Niven and he played an RAF pilot who should have died on a bombing raid, but because of a mix-up, his angel didn't collect him in time. The pilot, in the extra time he had gained, managed to fall in love with the WRAF who was guiding his plane home. Because he had fallen in love, he was allowed to continue living.

It was definitely a Matter of Life and Death with David Niven. What a fantastic film! One of my favourite films of all time.
