Does anyone know if there will b a modern version of this film? i just cant get use to watching it in black and white.

i loved the book and watched it when i did my GCSE on it many years ago... ouch almost 10yrs!! i want to watch it again rather than reading the book again as i'm not much of a reader...because being dyslexic will take me ages to read one page!

the original film is great...my hubby is also allergic to b+w and subtitles. you don't know what you're missing x

Someone will remake it at some point. It is a classic though.

Instead of reading the book, why not buy it on CD and have someone read it to you?

hi WhiteBears.. did you see the documentary about Kara Tointon and her dyslexia? it was quite remarkable. a specialist optician showed her how different colour filters make reading so much easier. she ended up with a particular shade of green (her best colour) tinted glasses, and could read a book.

The film is a work of art in its own right and its black-and-whiteness is one of the things that makes it so good. It makes the viewer look at what really matters - the characters, the dialogue and the tone of each scene.

Yes, that's what I meant WB (I just didn't explain myself very well). I saw a copy in WH Smith the other day on CD.

about a month ago, and it was repeated a few days ago "Kara Tointon - Don't Call Me Stupid".

it was quite touching. I think it was on BBC3.

believe the 1962 version is the only one that reflects Harper Lee's book.....

Re. your dyslexia, WhiteBears - a friend of ours is dyslexic. Haven't seen him for a few years, but last time I did he was a Doctor of Literature, lecturing in critical theory at a university. He was also an extremely talented and natural musician.

So, if ever you get a bit fed up with it all, just remember people like my friend and Kara Tointon.
