Microsoft Recorded show BBC TV

I have downloades via the Internet the Jools Holland TV show that was broadcast on New Years Eve ,I have tried to play it but so far nothing is happening,
The file has the Windows Icon,and the actuall file is titled Microsoft Recorded TV Show.
Any ideas please how I can open it ,thank you so very much.

Download and install freeware video player vlc player. This will play all types of video file without the need to download codecs (like Windows Media player).

Where did you download it from?

Run MediaInfo or GSpot on it to see what it 'actually' is.

A download from iPlayer is usually a .wmv file ... my download of the same programme opens quite happily with Windows Media Player.
