Mick is right. Corrie is not your average run-of the-mill soap, it is a national institution. Unlike other imitators, the comic sub-text of Corrie borders on the divine. It's worth watching for a whole week, just to catch the odd classic one-liner. Sometimes I think the scriptwriters are flogging a dead horse; (as the Good Book says, 'Some fell on stony ground'). Nevertheless, having watched it from the age of 11 (now 62), I couldn't do without it. Sheer escapism, but none the worse for that.
