Don't know if this is the right place to ask but doesn't anyone else find the Australian Prime Minister's accent really grating? I normally quite like the aussie accent (even the lilting at the end of each sentence) but that woman's voice is really driving me mad. Because of the terrible floods they are having at the moment, she is on the TV on every news bulletin.
Am I being picky?
I do like the Australian accent - complete with the lft - but only when it is being used by an Australian. When the girl in a call-centre in Luton starts doing it, I see red!
I don;t mind the PM's accent, but i haven't heard her much, been too busy to catch news over the last couple of days.
Suppose it is a bit picky, but if you are, then so am I because I keep finding myself being more irritated by her voice every time she's on. Those floods are just unbelievable, feel so sorry for those people, rather have the rubbish weather we've had lately.
I agree, I find myself immitating what she says. Its so slow and precise and sounds more like a bloke than a woman, Always makes me think of someone taking off an Aussie accent but really exaggerating it.
