I grew up in Scotland, and waiting to hear the Scottish results, but having to sit through the never-ending list of lower-league English teams, used to drive me nuts. Eventually aware of the resentment that this caused in the other parts of the British Isles, television execs. deigned to give regionalised Final Scores, which are, to be honest, utter crepe... As ye sow, so shall ye reap.
aye, aye loon.
And just to be awkward.......I live in Scotland (and am Scottish) but used to get a bit fed up when Scottish telly used to show a Scottish team in Europe, when I would rather have watched the English game that was shown in other regions. It's obvious why they do it that way, but until the advent of ITV 2 etc....it was a bit of a mare. You can't please all of the people.......
Well, I'm a Welshman in West Ham (Stratford, actually), and what really p1sses me off is when the only rugby reference the national news carries in it's sports coverage is about whether an English rugby player's injured fingertip will heal in time for the Italy game or not. And absolutely no bloody mention of Ireland or Wales !!
Who cares about England at this stage? They have 0 points and have lost every game in the 6 Nations so far - what does it matter if so-and-so is fit or not?
As for you, cockneyexile, I sympathise - at least I can find out how the Hammers did on the local news (Yes I have a soft spot for the Irons) :o)
