Sad news today that the lovely Margaret John (aka Doris form Gavin & Stacey, among others) has passed away ages 84.

What a shame. I loved Doris, Margaret John played her so well. I think she must have really enjoyed that role.

no 4get, she wasnt in ee (well at least i dont think she was anyway. i know the one youre thinking of - the one in ee was a miserable grumpy looking old dear wasnt she)

no, ol doris was a sprightly little minx,
she lived next door to gwen, staceys mum in barry,
and had an eye for the younger man, and had a soft spot for gavin..

and remember she caused a bit of a rumpus when she didnt do the salad for dave and nessas engagement/baby neils christening party? lol..

I remember her from Little Britain in a sketch where Dafydd was canvassing for votes. To give the lie to her appearance as a sweet old lady she came out with a mouthful of slang sexual terminology.

I think she was much funnier in High Hopes, but sadly it was only screened on Welsh TV.........shame..........it was so funny!........
