Mrs MM went shopping today. On the way home she passed Greggs bakery. In her words "The smell of cooking dragged me into the shop" She bought a Steak bake intending to eat it for lunch when she got home. Where the steak was is anyones guess. Pastry and a bit of gravy. I rang them to complain and they said bring it back. The shop is approx 9 miles away. When I told them this they said unless it was brought back there was nothing they could do. Good old customer service. Rant over.

What did you want them to do? Bring a van round for it?
Would you rather they posted you a replacement?

Also if the goods are not up to standard and they want you to take it back then hand over an invoice for the costs incurred by you returning it, they are obliged to pay them.
write or email head office
I like the steak bakes in Gregs but I do think that at the price they're sold at, you can't really expect more than a bit gravy and pastry.... Tell her if she fancies one again, the veggie pasties are the best! :c)

(Sausage, baked beans and cheese is an indulgent, plebian luxury!)
you have to be kidding Gina- right?

It's a pie. Put it in the bin and get on with your life micmak, im stunned you even went to the trouble of of phoning them to be honest.
i also wonder what you wanted/expected to happen?
What a waste of a phone call...
Evening mic - I know the feeling. I keep making myself 'coffee' without putting the coffee in the mug (must be an age thing, I guess). I think I would be tempted to freeze the remains of it, ready for your next visit there.
I'm sure if you do get a replacement pie they'll make it with the special sauce.
Should have had a sausage roll, not gourmet nosh, but very acceptable!

All I wanted was an apology. Is today grumpy Thursday :)
...or you could do like Doc did with his 'bread shop' and don't give them your business.
Well, you brightened my day then, mic, withy your last posting :o)
A friend of mine went back to the supermarket with a boxed pizza that showed lots of pepperoni slices in the photo and when she opened it there were about 5. I admired her guts but if you want to complain it is better to write (not email) to their customer services department. Quality won`t improve if you don`t complain and it doesn`t matter how much it costs, a steak pie should have steak in it.
Seriously SJ? Life's too short!

Evening Ena I hope you are well♥
Have to agree mic not much steak in the steak bakes nowadays, I buy cornish pasties and sausage rolls instead. Our Greggs is about 1/2mile away I would have taken mine back.
Well Boo I thought it was hilarious about the pizza. My friend is like a little rottweiler when she gets annoyed but yes if I bought something that I thought simply wasn`t fit for purpose I would write in about it. Not sure about a pie but if I felt strongly enough to phone, I would feel strongly enough to write.
When was the last time you found Cornwall in a pasty eh AYG? ;-)
Have to agree with SJ, B00. It is a small principle at stake (sorry mic) but nevertheless a principle. Who is to day that other customers were not disappointed similarly today?
