its changed quite a bit from the 'old style' hasnt it?
i think i prefer the old style myself, where theyre in the kitchen, and john and greg go round seeing what each of them are cooking within the given time ....

anyone else watching it? what do you reckon, and do you like it?

no doubt i'll get used to it...

I think they've copied the Australian version...
I've taped it - might have to start watching it now.
When I saw the trailer for it I thought I`d give it a miss. I`m getting on and don`t like change. Wonder how much all the ovens etc have cost us.
I liked the version from years ago with Lloyd Grossman.

oh yes tigger, me too!
I have to say that we are enjoying it - Grandad g was/is a chef - but pea puree is so last year!!(tee hee)
One thing that won't change is the posts that will come asking 'what was the piece of music being played on masterchef while joe bloggs was....'
Didn't actually realise it was on. I'm watching a history programme on BBC2.
Pea Shoots are in now Granny G. Very versatile veg Lol.
I'm watching what's left of it - I was watching my team beating Barcelona. What I can see reminds me of the talent show auditions - I think I prefer the old style. It'll get better though I'm sure - I LOVE Masterchef.
I thought the set was a bit odd looking but quite enjoyed it.
When the 4 contestants got to cook again at the end of the programme, one of the men rolled some meat into clingfilm and dropped it into a pan of boiling water. Did anyone notice what it was? Was it chicken?
Question Author
yeah, it was chicken jmr, stuffed with something or another
Thanks loooby :o)
I thought it was really slow, it really lacked the energy of the previous format. Hopefully as the competition progresses they will pick up the pace and focus a bit more on the food.
Question Author
yeah, they were my thoughts on it too eccles. it certainly lacked something didnt it..
plus i wasnt too keen having the family/partners there too..
but, like you say, hopefully itll get better, i do hope so cus i normally love master chef..
It was way too much like Britain's Got Talent, X Factor, Pop Idol for me what with the family and friends hanging about outside the room, then the John says no, Greg says yes - Greg says no John says yes f@nnying about.

Will probably give this series a miss which is a shame cos I used to like MC =o{
The family and friends bit is completely unnecessary IMHO.

I'll stick with it in the hope that it improves......
Very dissappointed. So far I do not like it. Too much pointless facial interaction with J & G. Prefer the old format. Will give it another go next week and then be hooked or binned.
I prefer the original version and I agree about the families. Don't need them, too much like X-Factor etc. I'll give it a couple of more weeks to see if it picks up, if it doesn't, I don't think I'll be watching any more.
It's amusing to see the previous version described as the "old" or, even better, the "original" one. Some of us remember the ACTUAL original one (with Loyd Grossman) and still prefer it. I'd prefer anything that doesn't have all this "who will be eliminated" nonsense, significant long pauses and rumbling bass chords. And isn't Masterchef the one with that infuriating female voice over who should be gagged?
