I dont think Peter kay sang the song. At the start of the video in Comic relief it gave the name of the singer and said that the song was mimed by peter Kay. Smashing video though
Tony Christie sings the song. It's a re-release of the original which was in the charts in 1971. Peter Kay has used the track in his live shows and on a dvd hence him being asked to do the video, and no doubt his name will help sell the song for comic relief.
yes he does fall off for real, they were going to edit that out but luckily Mr. Corbett saw the funny side! Parky's face is classic when he see's him fall!
Bloody hell.........now I can't stop singing this song and my boss is threatening to sack me if I don't shut up.......can't say I blame him I'm a pretty crap singer - mind you if he looks over my shoulder and sees this on my screen, my P45 will soon be winging its way towards me!!
When I first saw the video I said to a friend if Neil and Christine Hamilton don't appear either side of Peter Kay during this video I'll eat my hat..............could you pass the salt !
ps...........if the BBC were looking for a family entertainer then they need look no further than Kay, he'd be an excellent host of the Generation Game and shows of this genre.
He also mimes it in character as Max (and Paddy) driving a minibus of old people I think in an episode of Pheonix nights. That is enough to make anyone fall in love with the song! Look out for it, it's truly worth it.
definate number one as i couldn't find it in any record shops today, all sold out. hmv says more are being pressed 'hourly' but it's the video that will sell it! i believe one version of the cd comes with the video.
