I watched it for the first time last night (wrong move, I know).

I think I almost got the grasp of who was who, and when, lol.
there is something very odd about the 60's grandmother, imo . . .
I've missed a lot of this - was someone burning Alice's coat when I came in halfway through last night? - hence toggle at grave?
yeah it was Olive Runcie's mum burning the coat
I think alice's granddad was having an affair with olive's mum and nipped in for a quickie leaving the two girls playing by the lake.
Crackernut, my thoughts exactly, I thought I was being really smart when I thought that one up durung last night's programme. In the trailer for next week, shown at the end, the old Ruth is saying to someone "you were there with her", can really only be the deaf woman.
the 60's grandmother is evil (reminds me of my nan that no-one sees cus she's always horrible to you).
i doubt its olivel as she seems to likely to be a suspect, i reckon its olives mom..
yeah, i think the same as Crackernut. said the same thing to mum today!
wouldn't olive be to young to be out playing in the woods if she was a teenager in the 80's?? she would have probably not been born long at the time of alice's death but i reckon olive is his daughter but no-one else knows it
Olive has been seen lots in the 60's. She was with her mum in this weeks episode whilst talking to Alices mum!! You saw her take the button out of the ashes! Have you watched it??
yes i watched it but in the 80's she was sleeping with new alice's dad and was a teenager (1987 i believe) that would make her way too young to be out playing in 60's. i have seen her in the 60's and think the producers have made a mistake or done it delibrately to throw viewers off course. i can see that outcome being possible but i just think as olive is young in the 80's it wont be her in the 60's.
i think she is meant to be older in the 80's (then a teenager). She certainly looks a lot older than him in 2010. About 10 years older i would say!
I agree she is quite a bit older than the new Alice's dad...........

Why is she pretending to be deaf when she's not ?
I don't think she's pretending..
when the deaf lady was a young girl I think she was playing with Alice in the woods & when she was chasing Alice, Alice fell in the pool & was drowned, the deaf girl's mother then burned her daughter's coat for some reason ( to protect her own daughter maybe).
could be right but i think that's far to straight forward for what happened, maybe he was having an affair with olives mom and something happened to alice, then someone found her body and dumped it in the water, this would be more viable due to the necklace being taken and left on the headstone for ruth to find, if she drowned then it would have been difficult to find the necklace if it had of came off her.
