The Archers ..............

I am wondering what the actors from The Archers all do when they are not recording - as I found out today on a BBC tour that they only record for 1 week each month ... do they have other acting jobs that fit with this schedule or do they have other "normal" jobs? Does anyone know? TIA

Fascinating to see the studio it's recorded in though and all the sound effects etc.

I have heard Charles Collingwood (Brian Aldridge) on Any Questions? and (I think) Just a Minute; Timothy Bentinck (David Archer) was in a radio play recently; Felicity Finch (Ruth Archer) presented Pick of the Week not long ago.

I don't listen anymore - not since THAT episode killing off Nigel, I know a lot of them do voice-overs for adverts - and are in quite a few radio plays on Radio's 4 and 7. Some do theatre work, others write books...there's a new series going to start up very shortly called something like Archer's Extra, it's going to feature characters we hear about but don't have a voice on the regular show. Like Freda Fry....Mr Pulle, Sabrina Thwaite...I suppose

They have to take on other acting work to earn a living, The Archers alone doesn't pay enough to live off and not all the actors are in The Archers all the time. Most work in theatre and as others have said, other radio shows.
