What a superb film this is - should have won all the Oscars - I cried but not in the expected places.  What does anyone else think.

Haven't seen it yet but truly believe ANYTHING Johnny Depp does is Oscar-worthy.  Just patiently (and running out of it) waiting for the Academy to notice.  TRULY believe he was ripped off for Pirates of the Carribean.

I'm a huge fan -- can you tell?  LOL!

why does everyone refer to the oscars ?

its the american film awards - big whoop !

I thought the film was good, but preferred Eternal Sunshine, which also didn't win anything, Personal Taste i guess.

I agree netibiza however the BBC series "The Lost Boys" was a more accurate telling of the story I thought.

I'm not a big fan of Kate Winslett but I thought she was very good and I loved the stage effects.

I have to say I was very disappionted by the movie! Johnny Depp, I always like what he does and did like his character but the children were awful and when Kate Winslet died I couldn't care less!! Usually I have a good cry at most movies, at this one...not a tear was shed!
I have to say as well the more things I see Kate Winslet in the less I like her. I like actors that you can't believe that it is the same person playing two parts, like Hugh Jackman as wolverine in x men and as Leopold in (the terrible movie) Kate and Leopold. Yes they are very different characters but so are Kates characters in Finding Neverland and in Holy Smoke.
I wasn't expecting to enjoy this film, but was spellbound.  Not sure what you mean about not crying in the expected places - I think my eyes started to fill up about half way through.  I'm often moved by glances or emphasis of words.  There's a look Ed Harris gives Susan Sarandon in "Stepmom" that wrenches my heart - it's a horrible look that I've seen on my ex-husband's face, but I'm sure it would pass other people by.
