richard madeley is an idiot
i found the content of the show this morning highly inapproriate. My radio comes on every morning with the alarm, and the kitchen radio is tuned to radio 2 also. My children get up and dressed, have their breakfast in the kitchen while i have a shower, make the beds etc. A normal morning for families with school children I would imagine. Today I came into the kitchen to see my children gripped with fear listening to tales of 'definite' sightings of ghosts and spirits. I am appalled. Surely it should be safe to leave a bbc radio station on between 7 and 8 in a morning, without fear of the content terrifying my kids?? I know that my little girl will have difficulty sleeping tonight and will probably be in tears. Richard madeley and his producers are insensitve and thoughtless. disgusting.

Also I can't see anything wrong with talking about 'definite' sightings of ghosts and spirits in the morning on the radio. Children usually love ghost stories even if they believe them to be true. Some children are scared of dogs, or clowns or big bad wolves. They have to learn to cope. Just think how scary most children's fairy stories are.

Very true. And children are all different, we can't expect censorship on things that might upset our children's sensibilities. Inappropriate material should not be on the radio or TV before the watershed but I don't consider talking about sightings of ghosts to be inappropriate material. The news is on all through the day - there are a lot of dreadful things on the news, far, far worse than tales of ghosts. We can't wrap our children up in cotton wool.
