I hear on BBC radio four news that the USA has assassinated Al-Qaeda founder and leader Osama Bin Laden. Do you view this as a justified action by the USA?

No. He was entitled to a fair trial.
Absolutely, but I just wonder what will happen now.
I await with interest the comments of those who consider the action to be not justified.
The thing is, he didn't seem likely to give it all up and join Rotary......Pakistan must surely have agreed to the involvement (with one arm up the back I suppose)......I'm not sorry he's dead, but I worry about the USA being our international police force.
I think it is always better if those who commit atrocities are given a public trial so the record is properly closed.
we don't know the circumstances. I doubt he held his wrists out for the handcuffs.

dead or alive.. whatever.
I assume that the intention was to put him on trial - and then execute him - but unfortunately he was killed whilst resisting capture. It happens.
Mike you obviously meant execute him if found guilty?Remember the assumption of innocence?Unless of coure youre in north korea? Are you Kim Jong-il?
Sorry but you cannot apply 'normal' rules to this purely evil man.

I doubt if it would ever have been possible to take him alive, and even if you did holding him prisoner has it's own obvious dangers.
Al Qaeda exploded bombs in Morocco last week. Bin Laden probably knew nothing about them. The death of one individual won't stop them.
They say on the news that there is an Egyptian doctor likely to take over as leader of Al Qaeda.
He won't be following his hippocratic oath then.
SandyRoe, >>>>No. He was entitled to a fair trial<<<<<<< You mean a fair trial like all the peodofile Catholic priests get when they are sheltered by the Vatican. throughout history Christians and muslims havent given anybody a fair trial!!!!

It will be a safer world with him dead!!
He might be a doctor of divinity - or just got a PhD, hopkirk, not necessarily a medic.
Apparently he was asked to surrender, but refused to do so,just deserts in my opinion
I have to laugh at the thought of US Special forces politely asking someone to surrender.

Remember the British charity worker rescued with a grenade?
The BBC TV news is just speculating that he's already been buried at sea.
^ which seems a good idea on balance, there will be no grave for his fanatical followers to venerate.
and now he gets to find out there is no paradise and a bunch of virgins waiting for him, lol :o)
Well he wasn't that clever, he should never have filled his census form in.
