What To Do About A Smartphone Which Will Not Pick Up Sufficient Signal In My Area

At the end of August 2012 I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Ace from O2 in a Sainsbury's store with a 12 month sim only contract. During that time I returned to the store on numerous occasions with mainly signal problems. They were unhelpful and would not confirm whether it was a phone fault or signal although it is known to be weak in my area. Had they done so it would have saved me a lot of heartache. At the end of the contract. I moved to vodafone who have supplied my signal for previous mobiles following further advice I then moved to Virgin. It has been back to samsung and I visited a samsung service centre where it was suggested I might be better to try Vodafone again. The results are the same and it has been confirmed that this phone is never going to get a better signal but Samsung say they can't help. I do not have funds to buy a different phone and how do I know it would be any better or the best advice on a replacement anyway. Whilst I believe O2 should have offered better advice can I get anywhere when it would seem to me it was not fir the purpose? Any advice welcome even if it comes down to the best place to sell it!!

BAs you seem to suggest having issues with O2, Vodafone & Virgin it does suggest a handset issue. My gut feeling is the O2, as handset retailer, should replace or repair. Can you get an independent workshop to check it out ? But as implied, checking a cheap mobile has not problems is a good thing to be able to show.

Thanks Old_Geezer You confirm what I suspected for some time and agree O2 should take some responsibility. As the desk in Sainsbury's has been so unhelpful although on one of my many phone calls to them the girl admitted knowledge of a weak signal in my area. I will make one last effort and contact O2 direct meantime and one lesson I learned I would be better to purchase online in future
