J...I am not sure that bravery comes into it. I fully accept that Rob has been very cunning and manipulative, but it still doesn't sit right with me that no member of Helen's family sees anything wrong at all. Kirsty knows the truth, and in her position, I would have gone to the family members and voiced my fears, but, yet again, the scriptwriters have ignored this realistic possibility.

I'm afraid the storyline is getting more and more unbelievable as times goes on.
Helen made Kirsty promise not to tell anyone, and even got angry when she thought Kirsty had been discussing her with the woman from the crisis charity.
Then Kirsty should ignore Helen and do what is necessary !

For evil to succeed, all it takes is for good men (and women) to do nothing.
Helen's Mum is a waste of space
Hello Archers fans. Your help is needed in 'quizzes and puzzles'...Who was Tony Archer's best man when he married Pat in December 1974. Sorry I can't do links...
He is a complete **** !

Poor Henry !
I want to slap Helen, hard. Just go to your son you stupid woman.
Typical male abusers of women usually make efforts to alienate the woman from her family. They try very hard to move house, create bad atmospheres between the woman and her friends and family so she is isolated from any support or help, and more and more dependant on him. He will insult and embarrass and even threaten any contacts to keep them away. It is uncommon for such an abusive man to allow the woman to go on having family/friends contact for very long.
Such contacts would be cut as soon as possible by a typical abuser. Hence this situation is atypical.
For my own health, should I avoid listening to the latest episode when it is repeated?
I found it very disturbing tonight Hopkirk, because Henry needed comfort and she let him stop her from going to him. That's why I'm wanting to slap her. Rob's hateful but I never have liked Helen either.
You've got to listen to it though, it was riveting!
Hoppy...I am aware that not everybody listens to this live, and a lot only tune in once a week, for the Omnibus on Sunday morning, so I try not spoil others peoples enjoyment.

However............things are now moving apace, so to speak, and I may let the odd morsel out, before the 10:00 Sunday watershed !

There is now a element of risibility appearing in this plot-line.

I am more than happy to accept that there are people like Rob around. Indeed, I had a manager very like him, which caused me to leave a well paid job in 2008, and I have yet to recover financially and emotionally from that experience. He was manipulative and controlling and I see now that he was a sadist to boot. It was done gradually over a 5 year period, but in the end, friends and relatives helped me to see the truth.

But this current Rob/Helen affair is now beginning to annoy me. It is inconceivable that so many others characters in the Village are unaware of what Helen is going through. Her parents worship little Henry, as anybody would. I have a grandnephew the same age and he is so gorgeous that you could eat him up in one sitting ! But he has become disruptive and violent at school, and he has been wetting the bed to boot.

His mother, never the strongest of personalities at the best of times, is now acting extremely oddly, but only Kirsty seems to notice.

Where are Pat and Tony, and Tom ? Not only are they apparently not noticing anything is amiss, the characters themselves haven't even said 10 words between them in the last 2 months !

Helen has one of the most astute women as a grandmother and like those just mentioned, Peggy also fails to notice or understand.

This is what is wrong with this current story-line....it is growing more and more unrealistic by the day. Pat should be realising that while she used to see a great deal of her grandson, she is now hardly ever having any contact with him.

I shall, of course, continue to tune in, as I have done this last 30+ years, so its making me angry now !

Agreed, Mikey. It must end soon, surely. Please!
Noooo! Best story line in ages. Why would you want it to end? Don't answer that Mikey!!

Ladyb it's wearing me out. I feel exhausted each time I listen! I think it's with frustration at being unable to do anything to get Helen to see him as he really is. I wonder if she will get Jess's phone number? But then why would Jess chase him and beg him to come back if he had been treating her badly too?
I know what you mean hw, it is frustrating. I think she sees what he is now but doesn't want everyone to know she has another failed relationship and is in denial. But she knows - she screamed, "I hate him" don't forget.
Do we know exactly what went on with him and Jess or just his version of it? I honestly can't remember. She's certainly been very quiet lately especially as she is bringing up his child. I hope Helen does phone Jess - could be interesting. Amazed he's let her have his phone. Roll on 7.02pm LOL.
No, of course I don't want it to end prematurely !

But if they start alienating seasoned listeners like me, due to this growing absurd unreality, the scriptwriters must realise that they are storing up apathy for the future.

They risk ending up as the little boy that kept crying wolf....at some point in the future, nobody will take this seriously !
LB...we know very little about Rob and Jess...in fact we know nothing about Rob at all.

But I can guess....mollycoddled by an weirdo mother, difficult relationship with his father. Sent away to boarding school too soon.
Question Author
But didn't Jess come to the house begging him to go back to her? Not sure. She turned up on the doorstep when Helen was on her own.
She did indeed Helly, which just goes to show what a powerful hold he has over people.

Lets fantasise on Robs demise shall we !

My perfect storm would be for him to fall into a large and very deep slurry pit while being pursued by Pat, whose eyes have finally become de-scaled !
Can anyone else see Rob and Helen fighting over custody of Henry further down the line? Rob won't let go lightly.
