In my mind, it comes down to Adam, Justin, or even Alistair, as all three have a serious grievance with Matt. I, too, am not sure about unknown speeding driver from outside the village theory. I think that is a classic red herring.
When he comes out of his medically-induced coma, Matt himself may be able to give some important evidence, *** as he was on the night in question.

Matt said that the headlights were on main beam, didn't he, and he was walking towards Grey Gables, so it must have been someone driving from GG. Adam? If the suitcases are 'stashed with cash' how would he get them through customs as every case is X-rayed, isn't it? He's definitely up to summat as they say.
