from Jimmy Clitheroe in the late 50's,

That takes me back, mikey.
Used to love listening to that as a small boy, used to be on Sunday lunch time if I remember rightly.
I thought the film was very good, PP; you don't forget the eyes in a hurry. At least I haven't, in the last 50 years or so.

I'd like to see triffids recreated with modern special effects; 50s process work wasn't really up to much.

It wouldn't help if the names of the threads were more prominent like they used to be before the format was changed. I have always loved the radio - Dick Barton then The Archers at 6.45 I think. Kenneth Horne was wonderful wasn't he Mikey. We didn't know they were speaking Polari in those days. I fondly remember Ballet Shoes on Children's Hour, I could go on, and on, and on.... I don't listen to Radio 4 extra and don't know why. Must look into that, thanks gness. Happy New Year to you all.

It would help - not wouldn't. Sorry.
My first memory is of being in my pushchair........and being convinced the man walking in front of us was Uncle Mac......I squealed until my mum had to get the man to say hello to me....I think I was born loving the radio.....would be lost without it now...x
Helly....Radio Four Extra is an absolute treasure trove for Radio enthusiasts.
I stopped listening to the radio when I left the force.

(Except for Classic FM in the hope that it is an 'adult' advert after all...)

Oh dear, really wish I hadn't bothered.
Helly....I'm afraid I fell asleep before the program started. Judging by the first episode last week, I doubt that I will use the iplayer to catch up.

By the way, that copy of the "Night of the Triffids" arrived from ebay last week. I thought I would get the original book from the Library and read that again, before reading Simon Clark's sequel.

I shall report back !
I'm glad you did, Helly....turned out nice..... :-)
