Advertisers gone mad? Gary Glitter
Who would want anything associated with Gary Glitter these days? Even though he's not singing in the advert, the song is still recognisably his - probably his most famous song.
What on earth was the advertising company thinking of?

In a similar vein, I wonder how much Radio 2's viewing figures have gone up since Brand and Ross' outburst?

I notice the daily mail hasn't put my comment up. OK, I personally find anything remotely connected to GG a bit iffy, but as you say, it is not him singing it, it is the more well known (over there) Joan Jet version.
And as I understood it, he sold all his song rights before it was known about him, so in theory he won't get a penny from royalties, despite the mail and the sun saying otherwise. Seems to me they are just scandal mongering for the sake of it.

My mistake then Queen OfAmber, It was me that said you were 11. But then again i'm basing that on the fact that you yourself said you were 11 on a post the other day.
Anyhoo....back to the topic.
Yes Ethel, highly inappropriate, despite someone else's version of the song being used (Joan Jet's). I think that due to complaints, they'll rethink the whole song idea.

020 7853 2200 - well there you go, the HP press office. I just called to lodge a complaint.. they're ready for you!
the statement goes that the money involved is media speculation. they are aware (albeit a bit late in the day!) that this is a sensitive issue, and all ads have been pulled in the UK and it is being reviewed world-wide. they have noted my comments and promised to keep me up to date by email with progress.
