The party to celebrate the big birthday of my son...with a little side birthday celebration for my granddaughter's tomorrow birthday....and being introduced to my son's girlfriend.....and my grandson's girlfriend.....at last!

But...the bloody music was so bloody loud I ended up using British Sign Language which nobody else understood....and texting folk on the same table!!!!

Five times my son tried to tell me the name of the girlfriend.....she is lovely so I just gave her a kiss....no idea still what to call her.

I asked the landlady if the music could be turned down...but no, not possible....Dave and my brother stopped me from crawling underneath the discoey get up thing to pull the plug...

I know I'm old....as are Dave and my brother.....but surely we aren't the only ones who would like to chat and banter with other guests at a do....I'm hoarse from shouting....my ears are ringing....and I have no idea whether or not I need to buy a hat..... :-(

A proper good time then, gness.
See if Dave or brother knows anything about the info that a mom / grandma should know about.
Indeed, loud music at such do's is a real pain.
I SAID, 'INDEED, LOUD MUSIC AT SUCH DO'S IS A REAL PAIN.
FORSOOTH.
obviously no consideration was given to all the guests. that's rude imho
I know it's not important, but at our wedding reception, the band were in one corner of the main dance area and there was a side-room off that where guests could go and sit, drink, chat, eat or cool off.

I have asked, Tony....I have two possible names for the girlfriend....x

It is a pain, Shoota...there were so many folk I wanted to chat to but it wasn't possible....and I got a little cranky till by brother said I was beginning to look like our mother....x

If I had had some ciggies, Alba I would have taken our lot out into the garden for a smoke... ;-)
What a disappointing party; the same happened to us last year when we went to a friends big number birthday bash. We nearly all ended up in the foyer trying to catch a word between us and eventually going home. The host was busy dancing so I guess she liked it like that.
I got a little cranky till by brother said I was beginning to look like our mother....x

Ohhhhh very risky thing to say ;-)

I led my crew to the furthest away part of the large pub...with those high stools so Dave had to lift me up onto one......now he's hurt his back....
Annoyingly there was a TV and a football match showing.....wasn't too dreadful til a goal was scored.....
I went to a house party recently with my partner, and couldn't hear a bloody thing either, no idea who I was introduced to except his best friend who I escaped with to the roof and had a lovely hour long chat til we got discovered and accused of being anti-social. Bah Humbug.
It really does spoil it when you can't converse at all, what a damn shame.

It is disappointing, Maydup....you see folk for the first time in ages...want to catch up and you can't hear a bloody word.....x

Hi, Kval and Mamya.....it did spoil it for us.....a few lassies were dancing in a confined space....the food was fantastic.....but you feel you're sitting there alone because there is no chat, fun and banter..x

I hate loud music. It is a real isolated since ONLY people who dance enjoy it.

I could give you some understandable sign language lessons tho......
