A legendary group for anyone who followed them in the late 60s - 70s.

I saw them at The Academy of Music in NYC...God knows what year.

I'm not sure who Garth was; Robbie Robertson was a great guitarist. They were great playing with Dylan.

BTW, Mail online is a pain - I can't get on to it.

Try turning off java in your browser site settings.

Last one left I think as Robbie passed last year.

Thanks, OG. I'll try that.

Mozzie. Robbie passed something, or died? (I know the answer, I just find 'passed' a bit 'mimsie')

Before changing their name to The Band, they were the backing for Dylan on his controversial electric tour. He called them "the band" when rehearsing and they liked it. My Fav.

Togo; Did they have a name before Dylan?

The Hawks. They backed Ronnie Hawkins.

Thanks, Togo.

When my then bf and I saw them...we went out for a break, had a smoke, became ill...

...and missed DYLAN !!!!...he apparently popped in as an unscheduled appearance. We heard about it after and thought it was just a rumour...but it was confirmed for us sometime later

😪😳😫

pasta: Was it the 'smoke' that made you ill? How sad that you missed Dylan. I never saw him live, although I later played on a tiny stage where he had once appeared. I am prouder of that than I was at having shared a stage with 10cc, who were understandably too busy to acknowledge our existence (unlike Busy Lizzy, who were lovely and got us out of a temporary lack of stuff by donating a little chunk out of the kindness of their hearts). Coluche did a similar act for my guitarist a few years later. He built a 'carrot' on the grand piano and let my mate have the crumbs: a bit like the loaves and the fishes.

the last waltz what a concert, i have it on dvd and watch it from time to time, proper musicans all of them road worn, r.i p

Thanks for that fender. Yes, definitely road worn...and all still so young.
