A friend has purchased an Ex display SMEG cooker ,hood and splash back from MFI in December 2007. It was discounted from 1899 to 1000. It has now started to show that the stove enameling peeling on the inside. SMEG technician came out and said it was irrepairable, and advised that as it was an EX display it was not covered by their replacement policy especially as this model was now out of production.
What actions can my friend take? He doesn't want his money back as it was bought to fit into his bespoke newly fitted kitchen (not from MFI) ? I am informed by him that the cooker had a years warranty, from whom he does not know if it was SMEG or MFI.
Any advise on what action he should take would be appreciated.

Try speaking to them on the phone(noting down all times and names), but the best thing to do is write to them, then they can read exactly what has happened.
Include any photocopies of receipt and warrenty for evidence, then hopefully wait for a response.
Always include that you are a good customer to MFI and hope this can be resolved as you have high hopes in the company. They'll want to keep you sweet, so hopefully something can be done.
And you still haven't lost your consumer rights, just because it is ex-display
