Have I different taste in tv programmes than most on here?

Not many seem to be watching Jamie's Dream School on 4 - shame, cos it's very interesting & educational, from both points of view.
No-one seems to have watched Christopher Isherwood - A Life, on 2 Sunday evening. Very raunchy, very qUeer(!), very well acted.
I used to comment on From Teenage to Old Age, but no-one much seemed to have seen it, but I did get Trigger to watch it, which I was pleased about.
I really want to watch D H LAwrence's Women In Love tonight, but have to go to a party. Oh shucks, how awful, but I bet not many on here watch that either - eschewing it in favour of a soap or some such thing.
But if anyone mentions EastEnders or Corrie, there is a glut, I say an abolute glut of comments.
Oh Dahlings, I am just too high-brow!!! :-)

Yes Sandy - Cabaret was indeed based on CI's life and experience in Berlin just before the War. It was very interesting and explicit to say the least. Well, who would have thought THAT of Doctor Who?!! (Matt Smith, the current Dr, played the role of CI - exceedingly well).
The only songs were sung by the woman he befriended who 'sang' in the clubs - pretty terrible she was, but also rather touching.

Everyone has different tastes. Soaps are popular, I think because they become addictive, because it's difficult to see what else they have to recommend them. Personally I don't believe TV caters much for me any more. Most science programs are dumbed down to general chit chat, and aside from cult repeats, I’m not that keen on much of the new comedy offerings. Often I scan all the Freeview channels and decide there's 'nothing' on. A cult animation if I’m lucky, if very lucky one that’s not been shown to death already.
Re Dream School. One reason I'm not fussed about that is that it looks useful, investigating if something works, but is ultimately impractical since you can't have famous folk teaching in all schools. It's for TV entertainment after all, so loses it's raison d’être. And worse, it encourages the thought that play up and you get offered the best, be good and you aren't important.
May catch WIL tonight, it's a classic after all, but not worried if I miss it.

Yes, you weirdo ;-)
Actually, i don't like the soaps either, haven't watched any really for a few years, though i do catch the occasional one. I'm a sucker for american comedies and am currently working my way through season one of A Modern Family, if you get chance, watch some of it, very funny. I don't usually watch much mainstream TV.

i think you need to be increasingly selective and patient to wade through the swathes of 'choice' we now have for TV viewing, which sadly leads to a serious amount of pap to be negotiated.
I record 'Frasier' every morning and watch it with my tea every evening - it makes me laugh out loud, and few commedies ever do that.
Similarly 'The Good Wife' is excellent viewing - the character of Calinda is as bewitching as her cheekbones - which is saying something!

I don't know.... All those programns sound like things I'd avoid like the plague, (not a fan of Jamie Oliver but otherwise it's the only one I'd show interest in and I didn't like Women in Love when I read it so wouldn't be watching it). However, I also don't watch soap operas either.
My favourite prog at the moment is masterchef and I'm stupidly excited cause Michel Roux is on next week and I love him (and have a crush on him... worryingly also developing a bit of a crush on Greg Wallace). I also love family guy but have seen most of them.
