good respose must be all that laying down
I don't think there's anything wrong with Matt Smith as the Doctor, he can only work with the script he's given and Steven Moffat likes the juxtaposition very funny then very scary. I'd prefer less funny myself.

I don't like the entourage of companions...Amy, Rory AND Riversong, but then I'm not keen on Amy Pond generally.

Steven Moffat wrote some fabulous episodes when Russell T Davies was in charge, but I think he's slipped a bit since he got the full time gig. I'd love RTD to come back as a guest writer, to see what he would do with him.
I am SOOOOOOOOOOO glad I am not the only one to think this. I had my reservations with his first series when the music started (how dare they muck about with the tune!) and then it seemed to be matt smith playing David Tennant playing Dr Who. When I saw the GTi Daleks on one of the next shows, I gave up actually watching, though I did record for background, figuring if it got interesting I'd watch. I didn't.

I had the christmas special on too, but probably because there was nothing else to see (or we were waiting for what was on after, can't recall) and it was utter tripe. The writing - or rather the writers imaginination - was too surreal to be normal.

It might be big production now but it is, to me, a big turn off.
I loved this show until Tennant and Davies left. I thought last nights episode was dire.
I found it a bit confusing! could've been the red wine though clouding my judgement. I don't think anyone can live up to David Tennant as the Doctor. He was fab.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that the first episode of this series was a bit disappointing - I really enjoyed it when it was Dr Who and just one companion; right now it seems to be an awful lot of Amy Pond and 'm totally confused as to who is in what time zone when! Maybe someone would like to persuade Russell T Davies to come back! I think that one of the best episodes I've seen recently was the one with the stone Angels - that was a definite ' behind cushion' job!

Also who had died suddenly? I heard it on Radio 2 on Sat. when someone was talking to Graham Norton his Sat. show.
the girl who played sarah jane smith
Amy Pond is one of their occasional casting disasters, like the Sylvester McCoy abomination.

She looks wooden, and reminds me of a disturbed hamster much of the time.

Can we have a Bring back rose tyler campaign, please?
Thanks, bednobs.
Don't think there's anything wrong with Matt Smith, but the writing has become too clever by half.
And Elizabeth Sladen, the "girl" who played Sarah-Jane, was 63.
I agree Venator, she is a casting disaster, and she always looks surprised. I missed more Dr Who that I saw last series because she puts me off so much. And that wetrag character Rory does nothing for me either.

What's more, it does seem at times it's more the 'Amy Pond Show', not Doctor Who. Even with Rose or Donna, two very strong characters, they never seemed to take over the show like Amy Pond does.

It's such a shame, because Matt Smith could really shine, if they got the right companion for the Doctor. He's got a hard enough task taking over from the brilliant David Tennant, without being lumbered by an entourage of appalling sidekicks.
Amy's legs are the business though, aren' they?

That said, I didn't bother with this. After the last series, I didn't think it was bad as such, more like I've seen enough now.

Agree re the theme tune muck-around. That bloke who does the music is a right pain. He just slaps dramatic choirs over everything, when he isn't being twee and syrupy.
Having only just got back to watching Doctor Who (the last time I really watched it with any interest, Peter Davison was in the lead role!), I have to say I really like Matt Smith as the Doctor. I also like the Amy Pond character (it helps that she is eye-pleasing). They need to ditch Rory. The chemistry between the Doctor & Amy worked so much better when it was just the two of them.
