yet I felt so sorry for the young man who habitually self armed himself, he lived on the streets, no family and was scarred all over due to cutting himself, the ones I couldn't get to grips with are the ones who were surprised at the length of the sentences they received, one guy was choked he got 15 yrs for driving the van for drug dealers? surely if they get caught, then they shouldn't be shocked at the punishment

Agree with you Bobbi....terrible happenings and awful for that young man who was self harming...what sort of life must he have had...and what has he got to look forward to.

Did it show the prisoners living in luxury, with their own tvs, wiis, playstations and telephones?
Did it show the luxury gym, craftwork studios, tennis courts and snooker rooms?
Did it show the haute cuisine meals?
The days out they have?
The free education?
The excellent dental treatment and healthcare?

Yes Bobbi he did. I agree with you too re the 15yr sentence, I thought it rather harsh but that he was made an example of....some get much less for far worse crimes, guess each judge decides what to do for each case that's why they aren't uniform sentences.

I would have agreed too arwyn but tonight's programme didn't show any cosiness at all
it is a horrible old place, but as they say if you do the crime you should serve the time

I have just watched 2 episodes of the Icelandic comedy 'The Night Shift' on BBC 4. Did anyone else watch. Icelanders must have a very strange sense of humour. Perhaps it will grow on me.

I think that 15 years was about right. The guy was involved in a multi million pound drug operation. It was not petty stuff and I think that the sentence he received needed to reflect that.

Maybe he wasn't telling the truth as to why he got such a long term. I know it's sad seeing prison life but don't forget, they are there for a reason.

Like I said...I only caught a bit of it. I think it's the inconsistency of sentencing that makes the 15 years sound harsh.

Perhaps i am being harsh here but i don't feel sorry for them. I would feel sorry for the victims of their crimes more.

When they were searching one mans cell, did the prison officer say that someone hid drugs in their foreskin or did i completely hear it wrong?

Suez, I know someone who works in a prison.. mobile phones up backsides, too.. makes your eyes water!

I also wondered what that man really did to get 15 years, more than just "driving a lorry", I would think.
