crafty - I suggest you check out your library and get Sers One out on DVD.
In comon with a lot of intelligent American dramas, they have background stories that are chronological, and they expect you to keep up, so if you join in on what's happening now, a lot of what regular viewers know will be lost on you.
It is utterly fascinating - and the books are excellent as well - 'Darkly Dreaming Dexter' by Jeff Lindsay will get you hooked -
