I have always been a big fan of Coronation Street, but even I think I have had enough of it. It is fine to have a gay storyline, but to have 3 sets of characters all involved in a gay plotline at the same time is overkill.
Also on Friday with the scene with Peter and Leanne arguing, Peter thought it was fine to simply shut the bookies and chuck the punters out, because he wanted to finish his argument with Leanne. I know it is simply a fictional story, but it is supposed to reflect real life and if a retail shop behaved in this manner, you would soon go out of business!
I hope it will start to get a bit more realistic again soon before they lose even more of their viewers.

there is no humour in it anymore, someone like Blanche was a godsend to prick the pomposity of Ken and the like. And its not just whether their are lots of gay characters, its about the misery storylines, if you take out the humour that is all you are left with.
Good point archeraddict although I love Corrie.
archeraddict I think you have hit the nail on the head. Too many episodes.
One thing I notice thought is that if I miss any its not hard to catch up whereas when it was only on twice a week you went into meltdown if you missed it!
It hasn't been the same since Minnie Caldwell ran off with Fred Gee from The Rovers
lankeela. You are so right. I only dip in and out these days and can usually work out what has been going on. When it was on twice a week I would video it and have to watch it to keep up to date.

Video - ah, I miss those simple times!
Nothing to do with all the gays, and I am including Roy and Hayley, it took me a while to think who they all are. It's the silly story lines that are killing it and that Michelle Collins, send her back to haunt Ian Beale!! Sean is being a bit silly these days. Maybe living on this island I am more used to gays and trannies, we are surrounded by them and the trannies dress up all the time not just at night! so it's no bug deal. We even have a "Leather week" for the gays, maybe Corrie should have one!!!
*bug deal?* ha ha I mean big!!
"Leather Week" ?!
A tad sweaty in all that heat ;-)
If you think leather sweaty, don't ever try rubber wear. ;-)
Trust me sandy - I won't ;-)
My latex y-fronts are a torture...
Trying to conjure up that particular image sandy, I have to say I feel quite bilious....
lol. Some things are better left un-imagined. Is that a proper word?
yes, generally without the hyphen
Ankou - Pedant-ic. :-)

Imagine the sweat you'd build up in this. I usually take the head piece off when I go down to M+S for the shopping.
The gays usually have the backside cut out of the leather trousers, so guess it's cooler.

I don't think it's "gone bad" but it's certainly lost the plot. Incredulous stories nowadays with trying to be too real and it doesn't work in my opinion. There has to be some reality of course but not blatantly in your face, the old days were IMO better even if some of the storylines were silly, but at least you had the true grit of life running through it and what is to me more important, the humour and I for one miss that now more than anything.
