Just watching Countryfile - there's nothing else on - and obviously Julia Bradbury is off on maternity leave and Claire Balding is taking her place. I don't usually mind Claire, especially if she's only on for a short while but tonight she is dire! She's going to have a go at a hill climb apparently. She is so boring it's untrue. I'm not that keen on Juila but Claire Balding is just not right for Countryfile. Or is it me?

She's Miss BBC isn't she? Anything they throw at her, she can succeed at. Much like Matt Baker really. I like her and I thought she did well seeing as its such a run of the mill programme and nothing much to get your teeth into.

I thought the hill climb was rubbish. Why didn;t they give the piece to someone who could drive? What a waste of time.

Apparently she agreed to do it because she thought she was visiting a local dyke.

She annoyed the heck out of me about steeple chasing, saying how terrible she felt when a horse was injured or killed but how wonderful racing is......

LOL @ Postdog. She used to present some of the programmes on Radio 4 on early on Saturday mornings, mostly about the country. I miss them now I don't get up early for the market any more!

She really p*ssed off the dog fraternity a couple of years ago with her comments about German Shepherd Dogs at Crufts - till then her reporting had been fairly good seeing as she is more into horses.

Agree entirely....I also don't like Julia but Claire doesn't suit the programme. Much rather see someone like Kate Humble do it. However, I thought the whole hill climb bit was dull anyway.

I didn't like her much either, she didn't seem to fit. Not keen on Julia either, I really liked Miriam who had the age issue a while back, she was good and we didn't get the "look at me aren't I glamorous" bit that we do with Julia.
