...just about to start. Anyone watching? I remember the programme after the 9/11, which I thought was one of the most shameful in BBC history. Anyone remember it? Thoughts?

apparently no one remembered. However I am curious - why was it shameful?
Re-hashing this dreadful tragedy is not the same as remembering it with appropriate compassion.

The constant re-impression of these dreadful images is bad for everyone - I shall be conciously avoiding anything on TV or in the papers.

I went to Ground Zero three weeks ago - I have all the images I could ever need from there.

What I found shameful was the treatment of the US Ambassador. He was obviously at probably the lowest ebb of his life at that time and he was, for want of a better phrase ambushed by a (hand picked by the BBC) large section of the (mostly Muslim) audience.

It was pitiful.

A gross error of judgement i would add
It does appear that the BBC got it badly wrong - not only for its imbalance in audience selection, which is rigourous, and in the timing of its broadcast.
i have been to NY and had a very pleasant meal in one of the restaurants in the Twin Towers, at night you could see the whole of NY lit up, so beautiful, it still seems bizarre that they are not there any more.

Can't find any footage of it via youtube etc but I distinctly remember how utterly haunted the ambassador looked as he was shouted down by a large section of the audience who resembled baying hounds.
