He's not the most prepossessing singer visually is he? And when he said he was going to sing am Etta James song, i thought he was doomed, there are NO easy Etta James songs for an amateur to sing but ...
Thank you both. andy - unlike Susan Boyle, he can actually sing, but I know what you mean! They'll smarten him up a bit if he gets to the live shows, how can they not put him through!
Islasmum - I would also love him to win, he seems so down to earth and genuine. His mum got on my nerves a bit though!!
I don't think there is any doubt that Susan Boyle can actually sing - check this out, from a charity CD she made for her church bfore she entered X-Factor -
I never watch the X-Factor as I can't stomach the tears, tantrums and utter drivel that often litters such shows.
But that clip was something else and the singer was breathtaking. It was made even more jaw droppingly good because of the look of utter disdain on Simon Cowell's smug mug and his "Really?" remark that he spat almost almost venomously when he announced what he was going to sing.
I don't know how far he will go in the competition but I hope he releases his cover of that song, it was immense.
I agree Phil with your remarks about Simon. I like him, but he was quite wrong in this instance. It was obviously one of his favourite songs and he thought it was going to be ruined. I would love to see Josh win and I'd certainly buy his album, his voice is amazing.
I haven't watched any of this until this morning's live show. I'm absolutely stunned at the quality of the singers in comparison with the UK version, in a totally different league (don't know why apart from I suppose they have a wider choice to pick from).
