Anyone using a digital TV recorder?

We currently have an old VCR that we wish to replace. It records via a Sky digibox. Yes, we can get a Sky+ box, but I am also considering a digital recorder with a DVD/ HDD in it. After our analogue signal is switched off next year, we want to be able to still watch one channel while recording from another as we do now. We dont need access to Freeview from the box, with Sky we never watch Freeview, and the TV has access to it anyway. Anyone got any advice or knowledge about these things??!
