Just watched DOND that I recorded earlier and I couldn't believe it when he turned down £62,000 (that's £62,000 !!!) just in case he had more money in his box. Of course all the big three came out after that and all he got was £2,000! Greedy or what??? He turned down £62,000 !!!!! Bloody 'ell.

Why label it greed ? It is more to do with nerve, and maybe being disgusted at the baker's offers, which are rarely good enough to even be called 'in the ballpark'. I didn't see this episode but bully for him for trying. You don't get the confetti without having courage.

hippyhoppy- if the 'positive bird' was the girl on Thursday (who wanted money for her bathroom I recall), she kept turning down ever decreasing offers and ended up taking 1p home.

I've certainly seen enough games to know what I am 'talking' about. The banker has yet to be discovered making a decent offer. The only logical play is to go the distance and see what you have in your box. The absolute value is irrelevant. If it was £62k then that would be because much higher amounts were still in play. Bully for anyone who doesn't wimp out.

He was perfectly right to go for the big one. The banker does not give a proper amount to the contestants. To all the people on here who say he was a idiot they are talking rubbish. If everybody refused the bankers offers the £250,000 would have been won about 40 times not the 5 that have been won. If nobody took any bankers offers the contestants would have won 5 times as much as they have or they would probably have to take the programme off the air as it would be to expensive.

if someone walked up to me outside and said"here... have £62K." and assured me that I could use it as a stake in a gamble where the risk was far outweighed by the potential gain, then yes, of course it's worth it.

I'm confused at the way some are referring to the bankers bad offers.

£62k is a pretty darn good offer when your only skill required is to be able to read a number out loud. You don't even need to know how to count.

Surely none of the offers are bad offers. It's free money.

They are bad offers because they don't come close to that which should be offered to match the risk and potential gain of the next round. The fact that it is free money doesn't come in to it. It was free on the first round but that attracts few deals.
