kill all plants and weeds

I am trying to clear my back garden completely.

 

At the moment there is plants weeds and shrubs,

I need something that will kill them and I wish to clear everything and either put slabs or stones down.

Can anyone help?

I am also trying to do the same so have sprayed my "jungle" with RoundUp - used it a couple of years ago somewhere else and it was marvellous.  Of course once it has all died you have to clear it all away - still hard work.

Glyphosate based weedkiller such as roundup will kill all it contacts, dont breathe it in.  It is supposed to neutralise on contact with soil. Probably better than the residual weedkillers that are toxic to pets (and people) for much longer (months). Don't spray anything you don't want to kill eg your neighbours prize plants that may be growing through the fence.  Can be applied with watering can or spray, the can is probably easier to control.  Everything will die down in few weeks but you will still have a lot of clearing of woody residue etc before you can prepare the area for slabs.  If you are going to wait sometime before preparing for slabs cover the area with ground sheet or similar or every seed in the soil will grow and you will be back to square one in 6mths
