i thought Oliver Lansley was stunning as KE - not only did he have the look right, and the voice, he got all the individual chacater choreography spot on.
KE was a very visual performer, with a highly distinctive way of moving his body, which he adapted for each character. Oliver Lansley had each and every move completely mimiced, it was fabulous to watch.
The only problem with any drama based on the past is the inability to show the main character in proper context. everett was so brilliant because everything else was so staid, he was groundbreaking with ancient technology, imagine what he would have done with today's computers and the internet?
A great drama, and a memeory of a wonderful man who died too young.
I enjoyed the programme as a biography and yes, Oliver Lansley had him down to a tee. The voice was spot on. Personally, I couldn`t stand Kenny Everett though. Silly schoolboy slapstick humour IMO. For some reason I know of Lee Everett but I don`t know why. I missed the beginning of the programme. Was she a radio personality as well?
I also could not stand Kenny Everett, too silly for words. But we knew ages before it was public knowledge that he was gay as he used to visit Pyke's Hotel where we all went and I was so surprised at first to see him with his lover!
I think he must have had a major struggle with his sexuality if the programme was anything to go by. I loved him, and likened him to the madcap Spike Milligan.
