I'm watching an old episode of CDWM, a 'celeb' contestant is trying to grate parsley....What The Funicular??? How the hell did he think that would be the best way to prepare parsley?

His mum is apparently a chef!!! Well if that is the case he should know that glass is not a good material for a chopping board.

What's wrong with a glass chopping board?
Question Author
C4, but I'm watching recorded from earlier today. You might find it on catch up/demand what ever it's called.

A glass chopping board will blunt your knives, the blade is likely to slip on the hard surface and they are flippin' noisy.
Thank you x
I wouldn't use a glass chopping board. Across the grain wood works much better
I thought ceramic knives were alright on glass chopping boards? No?
Question Author
Given how fragile ceramic knives can be I would avoid glass at all costs.

Still the same issues with sliding blades and noise though.....
By far the easiest and quickest way to chop parsley ( or mint, or other herbs) is to put the leaves in a cup, and cut back and forth with scissorpoints in the cup.
Atlanta if you know how to use a knife you can get finely chopped parsley that you would never get with scissors
Question Author
To some extent I see where you are coming from atalanta but a sharp knife and a chopping board will achieve a better, more regular result.
I but frozen, ready chopped parsley, garlic and coriander from Sainsbury's.

I chop a lot of parsley (board and knife) then freeze it in Ice cube trays with water, then just use a couple of the ice parsley cubes when I need them.
Question Author
Tilly, I also have frozen herbs in the freezer. I don't mind cooking with them but find they are not so good for raw recipes or garnishing. They are so handy to have on hand.
