Mostly awful, and lots of repeats. What do other ABers think?

The oldest film is on E4 - 1939!
Totally agree, just glad I got some DVDs in!

Was that Gone with the Wind? The Greatest story ever told was on today and a few days ago, Ben Hur yesterday
Got some Dennis Potter DVD's yesterday as a prezzie - Blue Remembered Hills, Lipstick on my Collar, etc. I'll watch those instead.
Total rubbish, watched and watching news channels
Was it you or OH who was watching Dave Allen DVDs, sibton?
We recorded a load of films in the couple of months leading up to Christmas, which was just as well because,as you say, the programs were crap.

Glad lots of people agree. Big brother is on next week. Thats rubbish too
When measured in real terms, ITV1 has lost over 90% of its income since:
(a) the introduction of satellite TV (and, later, terrestrial digital TV) to the UK; and
(b) the rise of the internet.
Indeed, ITV1 has come very close to bankruptcy several times over the past few years.

More channels means less advertising revenue per channel and the switch to online advertising means an even smaller pot is available to be shared between the commercial channels, which all struggle to survive.

So the commercial channels simply haven't got the money to buy in block-buster movies or to fund many new productions.

Meanwhile the BBC is also suffering big budget cutbacks, so they'll inevitably have less to offer than they used to.

However last night's Royle Family special was worth the licence fee on its own!
Unmitigated pants.....
What would the BBC and Sky comedy do without Morecambe and Wise, The Two Ronnies, Only Fools and Horses, repeat after repeat. they were brilliant in their hey day. Christmas TV Rubbish, thank goodness for movies of our own choice on DVD.
I'm lucky then, Santa brought me some mitigated pants. :)
Enjoyed Call the Midwife and Downton Abbey last night. Lot of rubbish today though enjoyed Morecombe and Wise again!!!
I enjoyed Lightening Mcqueen.
We both were, factor, last year's xmas present that we forgot about. It was brilliant, he was ahead of his time and so much of it was appropriate for today
4 letter word:

C-r-a-p
Agreed, the Royle Family was brilliant, as usual
DT, that was the word I wanted to use
Then considered it both our parts, sibs.....so that the Master Controller-GruppenAusleseBBCundOffcomFuehrer sees our comments.
What did you expect ?

I stopped watching TV, ditched cable, stopped with the TV licence (tax) and now only (rarely)watch catchup, all news i get online , not the pap that BBC and others serve up everything else I want to see can be found legally online.

no licence needed, so the British Biased corp can go phluck themselves for all i care
