There was a comedy on BBC 2, about 10 years ago...maybe more. It took the form of a "mockumentary" about the CID. I think it was called The Detectives ?

Another clue is that it had a black police character and a small, quite thick younger PC. It was hilarious and I am trying to trace it in the hope that there may be a DVD that I can buy.

The Thin Blue Line?
Question Author
Just had a look on wiki and it wasn't called The Detectives, with Robert Powell and Jasper Carrot, so back to the start I suppose.

Sorry...I am not being terribly helpful I suppose !
sorry wrong show
Surely that was The Thin Blue Line?
Question Author
No, not the Thin Blue Line BigJack. It was in that pretend documentary style, a bit like The Office. The Inspector was always speaking direct to the camera. I wish I could remember more, as it was very funny.

Keep thinking AB'ers !
I remember it. It wasn't the thin blue line. I'll try to remember the name

Seems like two programmes mixed together

/a black police character and a small, quite thick younger PC/ sounds like The Thin Blue Line but that was a standard sit com not a

/"mockumentary" about the CID/

that sounds like the excellent and under-rated 'Operation Good Guys'

Enjoy their attempts to counter prejudice against minorities

Ha ha ha ha ha......ha
Question Author
The whole series appears to be on you tube, so nobody has to fork out any money !

No canned laughter either mojo ! ( I don't remember the original series on the Beeb having canned laughter...perhaps it was added in order to sell it to our American cousins )

Don't know how to put a posh link like Zeuhl, so ::::

YAY!!!
I bought Operation Good Guys on DVD years ago. Should be pretty cheap on amazon by now.
