I'm a bit confused - was the girl actually being punished for murdering the little girl, or was it just some ghastly game show? All I can say it that Charlie Brooker must have a very strange mind!

I 'think' it was a dark satire of the type of thing Paul McKenna does - when he fools (hypnotises?) poeople and then puts them into bizarre situations. Had to keep turning the sound down in case my neighbour thought it was me screaming.
You are correct, yes, that was her punishment for being involved in the abduction of the child.
I find most of the Black Mirror programmes have been very thought provoking and a reflection on how modern society has an obsession with personal media.
Charlie Brooker is clever in his writing IMHO.
Question Author
I agree that his writing is very thought provoking, i've only watched last weeks episode so didn't realise there had been a previous series.
I enjoyed it...and yes-I thought it was some sort of never-ending 'game show' that she was now a part of. Very dark to put it mildly.
islasmum,
Worth catching up on Series 1 if you get chance:

i saw it as an example of a new type of justice - proper justice - one we'd all like to vent on those scumbags who seemingly get off lightly - make the criminal relive similar - the idea that standing and watching is almost as bad as committing the crime - and they had turned into some kind of theme park thing, for people to join in with.

i dont really see how they could have doled out that sort of 'justice' to all criminals though... so she was singled out.

they are mainly just cautionary tales, this one the culture of the bystander - all those people who stand by and film wrongdoings instead of intervening, or who cause bad things to happen specifically in order for them to film it.

not sure when it was supposed to be set - how far in the future - though i did notice the tax disc in the van was oct 12 ... that was probably a continuity error though
I'm pee'd off, I missed it - will it be shown again ?
Follow my earlier link chaptazbru, you'll be able to access it from there.
This will take you straight to last night's episode:

Great, thanks Chill - I didn't see your post.
/the type of thing Paul McKenna does /

Derren Brown even
I'll watch it later - looking forward to it.
LOL @ Zeuhl, I was thinking the same!
She stood by and witnessed the child's murder hence this was now her punishment to relieve it over and over but witnessed by punters in a ghastly theme park/game show experience.
Thanks Chill, I really enjoyed that. I thought it was much better than the first one which started well, but then just got daft in my opinion when the dead boy was recreated and 'brought back to life'!!
