Sian Massey, Referee?

Both commentators on Radio 5 (Wigan v Swansea) thought Sian Massey was more than qualified to step up to refereeing Premiership matches. She's certainly an excellent Assistant.Who decides and how? Presumably it's the Professional Match Officials who decide, but what criteria do they use, or seem to use? Not I hope, disallowing a ref with a ponytail !

Oddly, my mate and I were discussing her an hour or so ago and we concurred that she is far and away the best assistant ref in the Premiership.
Every close call of hers has been scrutinised this season and as far as I can see she's got every marginal one correct.
She'll be a breath of fresh air for the Premiership, if they decide she is worthy of the step up, which she obviously is.
How many of the 'stars' will go effing and jeffing to a small-statured lady with a pony tail?
She can only be good for the game.

She wouldn't be up to it. It's all very well running the line and raising your flag a few times but reffing is another matter

She could make the half-time tea though - and wash up the cups afterwards

I think its pretty much unanimous that she is an excellent official and a credit to the game.

She's certainly seeing how it's done. She appears quite often when Howard Webb is officiating; today he was the fourth official; and seems to be running the line when one of his two regular assistants, the pair he had in the World Cup (I forget their names), is not. As the assistants and ref must, inevitably, discuss how the game went, she must be getting good insight.

Elvis,and what quiet words of advice do you think male Premiership refs give? You see them doing it when running alongside players , not just at fouls. It's part of keeping the players calmer and less likely to foul or to dispute decisions

She'll be needing the Tena Lady pads far more as she's bound to p*ss herself laughing at the overpaid prima donna's crying, whinging, bitching and rolling around in their pathetic attempts to con her, the fans and their fellow professionals.

She'll be good for the game because as I said, how many will enjoy being told off by a female? Imagine the bad press they'll get when they try their puerile attempts at cajoling and remonstrating with her?
