Interested by the short time in which a kitten can be socialised; 4 to 8 weeks; otherwise it becomes feral by nature. We had farm cats that would raise their kittens in barns and roof spaces of outbuildings, anywhere away from humans, and the kittens would grow up completely wild but self-sufficient. They wouldn't be approached by humans, but we didn't mind much; there wasn't a rat or mouse to be seen.
