How Councils Waste Your Money

did anybody watch this programme last evening. i did and wasn't surprised in the least. I am pretty sure what the reporter discovered was only the tip of the iceberg. Do these people not consider when claiming expenses or using the councils credit cards that this is public money they are using. With all the cuts and imposed bedroom tax i wonder how that sits with some.

one leader earns over 250k don't know how they get paid more than the PM, doesn't seem right at all.

Councils, the Government and especially the EU all waste money, because it is very easy to spend other peoples money, and No I don't think they consider at all where the money is coming from.

i wish that the programme had been an hour long, he could have delved deeper, not that i think it would make a difference, but his musings had me thinking why do people pay council tax, especially when you look at the jollies some of these people go on, for the sake of unity, don't ya know..

I didn't see the programme but nothing they do when it comes to spending our money would surprise me. Our local council recently sent a delegation to Barcelona to look at social housing despite the fact all matters relating to housing were taken out of their hands years ago.

Funnily enough, this morning, I was going to put up an 'fao em' thread,about this programme.
As you say, they were all shameless, and the programme should have been longer.(How about a series)
But what I thought would interest you in particular, Em, was our old friend 'the mayor of Tower Hamlets'.
I'd say 'why do people vote for him' but, of course, that'd be a moot point in his case.

svejk, i wish that they would take these people to court for abuse of their positions, i don't see why the audit commission i believe, is being cut, which means they largely go unregulated
as to the Mayor of Tower Hamlets, how has he lasted that long. Taking the official car to go a 3 minute walk, bloody nora,

i totally understand why, and no i won't say it, but do feel that jobs for the boys isn't limited to those city types.
