Katie Hopkins (of The Apprentice ilk) is a super snob! She critised children with 'common' names (ie Tyler, Chantelle, Brandon) and defies her children to even consider being their friends. A name like Tyler, conjours up her idea of being a naughty, unintelligent boy who doesnt do his homework - and therefore, none of her three children Poppy, India and Maximillian should ever be allowed to play with them!

This was discussed on here somewhere, damned if I can find it.

I can't bring myself to be particulalry bothered, its just her opinion. I really can't figure out why she still gets to be on TV in the first place.
I take it she's aspirational lower class :) So worried about her status that she condemns anyone whom she can label as lower, or as where she has come from (as the case may be). A snob,in a word. Let's face it, a true aristocrat or upper class person is so secure in their own position that they don't feel the need to make such comments;their not threatened or anxious. They might not be aware of the existence of the rest of us, but descending into her behaviour is not what they do
Well 'India' to me is a 'common' name, as well as being favoured by some of the snob brigade. There are loads of little 'common' Indias around. My use of 'common' is not an indication that I am a snob, but if I said 'chav' then a lot on here would be indignant. Who is Katie Hopkins - is she in the current series? Why is she on 'This Morning' and is her stupid opinion important in the least.

I pity a child who can't choose his own friends and is subject to the stupid prejudices of parents.
Yep Fred - typical of an expanding breed of Nouveux Riche!! They are laughable.
I knew it looked wrong

'nouveau riche'
On 'nouveaux': Lord Chesterfield in his Letters to a Son,told his son to be careful if he thought to marry a woman who was from what we would call a nouveau riche family. This advice was not snobbery, but practical. He said that she would treat the servants abominably because she was so conscious of being near to them herself and, now having the upper hand, she would abuse her power.
I think she gets on the telly because she comes out with guff like this, therefore raising viewing figures and getting everyone talking about her and the programme she was on.

I loved it when she said that children with place names (London, Brooklyn etc) were common, and Philip said "Isn't your daughter called India?" To which the daft mare replied that India isn't a place name...

I must have been dreaming in Geography, or indeed in 2001 when I went there on holiday...

Thats me that is.

Yes, she was quite adamant that people's names defined what 'class' they were from. One viewer called in to say that her name was Kylie and she was a doctor - Katie wouldn't admit as to whether or not she would allow her children to be treated by a person with such a 'celebrity' name.
I do admit that when I hear of a child with a daft name (like cabbage, dragonfly or spatula) I do think "poor wee sod", and tend to judge the parents for saddling their child with a strange name just to satisfy their own ego.

But you can't judge a person by the name someone else gave them! Ridiculous!
2sp....that was really funny.
I did also like it when Holly said to her to "Just stop it, stop it now!" I would love to have had Holly really blow her top at her!

I think people tend to suit their names. When my cousin said she was calling her son Stanley we kinda giggled. He really suits it though.
I watched it on You tube and also laughed when she said India isn't a place name! Shows the level of her intelligence.
what an absolute idiot she is, doesn't deserve the time of day
didn't someone famous call their child zowie, I seem to recall they changed it to Fred or something at the first opportunity.
baza, I think it was David Bowie. Yes, he thought Zowie Bowie was a great name for his son...

I think he (the son) changed it to John or Jack or something like that.
Zowie is now a very successful film director http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duncan_Jones
