I know, it's only a cartoon etc, etc, but sensitivity never really exudes from the pores of an American.

However, they have a 'get out clause'. Stewie could always rebuild his time machine and save him, if the new character turns out to be unpopular with fans.
Unsure I see the point of killing one character off just to replace them with an equally unbelievable one. Anyway the problem with the show isn't the characters, it's the repeats within days of a previous showing.
