Has anyone met anyone famous, and if so, what where they like?

A few over the years, all very pleasant with one exception,
Actor (?) H.G. appeared to be a long way up his own b***s***!

Met Peter Beardsley in DisneyLand. He was nice.

Used to look after Ben Cohen in the summer holidays (my step mum worked for his dad)

Met Sid Owen (Ricky from EE) in Thailand...he's a knob!

Probably as a result of being discovered with a dusky maiden of the night.Liz was not amused!! and I don't mean HRH Liz who I have met.

Ellie Goulding is my friend's goddaughter. She and I used to stay over and look after him (he'd got COPD) before she was actually releasing songs into the charts.

Met Danny Dire (sic) when he was filming his series on organised football hooliganism a few years back. Despite being well received by Burnley Football Club's 'Suicide Squad' - lovely bunch of chaps!! - when the programme was aired, he was shown having to leave the pub as "The atmosphere had become a little tasty." Nothing of the sort. What a twonk.

Many many people as a music and entertainment writer.

All have been uniformly professional, and extremely nice, with the exception of Paul Weller, who justified his famous grumpy image, and Sid Owen - I can concur with ummmm - he is indeed a knob!!

Probably the most interesting was Ed Mitchell, Commander of Apollo 14. Had long discussion about his moon adventure. He wanted me to go to his hotel. I refused. He refused to continue broadcasting and said to the producer - what do you want? Blood? .........

I met a Rugby League Legend last year - Andy Gregory. For those in the know he was a terrier-like player with plenty of grit and determination. Was with him for about half an hour and he was a perfect gent - "Photo? - of course, sir" "autograph - of course sir" not bad for a Lancastrian........

Met and worked with many and encounter quite a few where I live.

Like anyone in the street there are some you engage with and others you cross the road to avoid.

apparently i met and chatted to quite a well known villa player in a queue for the cash point a few years back, as i had no idea who he was i'm not sure it counts

i was a cinema manager in leicester Square, london - almost thirty years ago

occasionally, someone famous would pop in to see a movie, just to pass the time

when we had royal premieres, then i would meet all the stars, and the royals who attended

i remember one afternoon when freddie mercury visited and i shook his hand - later on when i telephoned my mother from my office (she was a huge fan) she told me not to wash my hand until i next visited her

when jan francis brought her young daughter to watch a film, i told her my father was a fan - she sent him an autographed photo

Met and spoke to Rachel Tucker when she was not famous and doing the clubs in Belfast and she was brilliant then - knew she would go a long way.

Also Katie Melua when she was 10 - she was in my great niece's class - again in Belfast - she was in the Xmas play - knew she would go a long way too as she had a great personality - as did Rachel. Lovely wee girls

Never spoke to them but saw Tommy Cooper and Jack Wild having lunch in Chiswick once.

And of course know Brian Kennedy well - nice too. Let you know if there is any more

ummmm - "lol Andy. He's a 'do you know who I am' sort of person."

I met him at Alton Towers, he was attending a TV shoot I was covering, and I was interviewing him for Jackie magazine.

He had a crowd of hangers on with them, and seemed to feel his responsibility was to laugh it up with them, rather than give me sensible answers to questions.

I was on the point of asking him if he wanted to play the clown with his friends, or be a professional and do his job for twenty minutes, but i decided not to bother.

He is a Class A 24-carat knob!!!

I shook Bill Clinton's hand at the Hay Festival years ago and it was only then that I realised what charm the man has. And I'm a chap ! He could have charmed the birds out of the trees !

I also met Pepe from EE (don't know his real name) and Dean Gaffney. Dean Gaffney was lovely, Pepe was another 'look at me' knob :-)

Yes, LOL welshyorkie ! But he was extremely charming. If his missus is ever to get to the White House, he will have played a large part in it ( oh god, there I go again ! )
