Our lights (lamps and overhead) keep going dim then bright then dim etc! One lamp has got a dimmer switch but the rest haven't -what is going on ? ?

It is possible the dimmer is faulty. Maybe the pushbutton is stuck or something.

Does it occur when a heavy load ...like a shower, is turned on?

Ah right I didn't read the OP properly. There is more than the dimmed lamp affected. Then read bernie's recent thread for suggestions.
