Who are the winners and losers financially when League football matches are played on Sunday rather than Saturday?

tonyav; perhaps i'm missing something but how is it more expensive to watch a match on a Sunday rather than a Saturday - or any other day of the week, come to that?

Reduced public transport, parking fees?

Not so much financial, sometimes not convenient.

Ok if it's an evening kick off ( unless your a shift worker ).

don't forget too, that not everyone can afford Sky Sports nor go to the pub for that matter.
The fans are the losers, die-hard fans will move heaven and earth to watch their team though I s'pose.

When i used to go and watch the 'Clarets' home and away, i used to spend roughly the same amount no matter what day of the week the match was on. Granted, it was sometimes more inconvenient to travel to away games on a Sunday but not to a degree where i ever considered not travelling.

I think that we are all agreed that the main winners are Sky tv (and BT now). I just don't think that there are any real losers.

Yes I remember those days, Ken, when an away ticket cost around the same as an home ticket !.

Was listening to Talksport a few weeks ago, (mid-week) when they were chatting about a forth-coming footie match, where the last train was at 8pm and the match wasn't due to finish til 9pm.

surely the losers in this are both the Club concerned and the fans?

Good example that, ah wench, remember when they used to have a soccer special (trains).

Alba; that wasn't a league match. That was either one of the semi-finals (which are now played at Wembley to recuperate some of the cost of the build!) or the final of the League Cup. A ludicrous situation brought about by the insistence of the late kick off.

Tonyav; I was quite amazed to find that Burnley now use a 2 tier charge at the turnstiles, depending upon which team we are playing. Now if that is purely to cover the extra cost of policing the larger crowds expected for an 'A' fixture, fine. Unfortunately i suspect that even my beloved mob are capable of extracting that little bit extra from the die-hards.
