Is it just me, or was last night's episode really really boring? After all the action of the previous few weeks, I was hoping for something spectacular to happen. Instead we just had a load of histrionics on Carrie's part over her mother.
This series was so much better than I expected it to be without Brody. It's a shame they spoilt it with a dodgy final episode.
I felt that it was simply setting it up for the next series. I don't want to spoil it for anybody who hasn't seen it yet, but is the guy we saw at the very end of last week's episode, really a bad guy?
It seemed boring because of previous episodes being so action packed but in a way I was pleased as I felt there was getting to be too much bloodshed and it leaves it open now for the writers to either end the series or pick up on whether Quinn will survive and whether he and Carrie get together. Also whether Saul will get the job he wants, but at the moment I can't see how they can keep up with the excellent previous story lines.
Must admit to being a little disappointed with last night's finale. After all that has gone on before, this was a total anti-climax. To be honest, i really don't care whether Carrie and Quinn get it together, as it adds absolutely nothing to the story and may even detract from it, much as the reappearance of Carrie's mother did.
What a shame that the last episode was such an anti-climax after the rest of the series had been so good. But I'm looking forward to the next series, whenever that happens.

I understand what you mean Ken, but it does need a bit of lightheartedness in it otherwise it would be just too depressing. That episode last night was almost as if they had just 'added it on' as they probably felt they had to acknowledge the fact that the actor who played Frank had died in real life and so perhaps someone suggested his ex wife would turn up etc but it did become uninteresting in the end.
Like it or loathe it, human emotions have been the archiles heal of many an operation since Homeland began. Remember in series one, how Brody failed to trigger the suicide vest when his daughter phoned?
These domestic threads to the story add a mildly realistic element and make even the most determined of agents falable. It was a bit flat last night, but it sets the scene for the next series and adds depth albeit it very predictable, to what would otherwise be a simple action drama.
