It bears no resemblance at all to the Spain I know.

Maybe the Beeb saw how successful channel 4 were with their recent "documentaries", and decided to follow suit.

The same happened with the Gibraltar programme, we had a trip planned and almost cancelled it! Luckily, once we ignored the Essex-Sur-Mer developments, it was the same old Gib we had lived in years ago. The people we spoke with had also hated the programme as it gave a totally false perspective.

Normal,successful lives aren't interesting, apparently , I shouldn't comment really as I never watch "reality", ie manipulated, tv. But I am off to the Costa Del Sol in a couple of weeks.....so agree with you :)

Ok, ive just watched this on catch up, and i have to disagree that you think they are all 'idiots'
All in MY opinion obviously, however i lived in Spain for 3 years with my (then) husband and daughter, we bought/ran and fortunately sold a bar in Altea, just as the recession kicked in, now, it was a predominantly 'Brit' area, and in the majority were EXACTLY like the people in the programme, BUT?? Why are they 'idiots' ok, theyre British? Trying to keep head above water? (Legally) pay bills, and make a bit of a living! Hats off to Colin and his dance classes! Hes a tryer!
The poor old lady with vascular dimentia, and her long suffering husband? Idiots? Surely not! I think you are being very judgemental in your comments, ok so the young girls that were working in bars un Benalmadena had to pack up and return to the UK But so what! Thats what you do at 20+ years of age surely?
Anyway, i thought it was quite sad to watch, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Like i say.........just my opinion.
